Bookshop beauty

My fellow bibliophiles will know the pure joy of a rainy late autumn afternoon spent in the warm, gold-lit surrounds of an old-school bookshop. I’m talking wood paneling, a Zen-like hush, the sales assistant reading Proust behind the counter. It may even be in France, if you want to get really serious.

And then there’s the bag full of books you take with you, the crack of new book spines being opened, the smell of fresh print and paper. For bookworms and chic geeks, the look is all about matching the sensuality of the book: tactile tweed, buttery soft leather, mannish brogues and leg-baring, high-waisted minis.
